Potters Wheel 5 Week Short Course 


The Potter’s Wheel Short Course offers a comprehensive 5 week exploration of the fundamental skills needed to create basic pottery on the potter’s wheel, often referred to as “throwing.”

Throughout the course, you will delve into the essentials, including clay preparation, centering, opening, and shaping cylinders, plates, and bowls of various sizes. Additionally, you will acquire the know-how to trim your pottery, employ a bat for support, and craft handles for mugs.

Our program uncovers the crucial foundational techniques that underlie every pottery creation. We’ll educate you on clay properties, the firing process, clay recycling, and introduce you to entry-level glazing techniques.

We present wheel throwing as an accessible, step-by-step process that becomes more intuitive as you practice, paving the way for more advanced ceramic projects. Starting from the second lesson, you’ll explore the art of trimming, a rewarding and enjoyable aspect of pottery, ensuring your pieces are well-balanced and even before they undergo firing, becoming timeless keepsakes.

What do I bring?

As this course involves hands-on pottery work, we recommend bringing your own towel to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience during this creative journey. Prepare for a playful and muddy exploration of self-expression!

All necessary materials, including clay, glazes, and tools, are provided, and the cost of firing is included in your course fee.
