Slip Casting 101

In this 5 week Intensive Course we cast your moulds using various techniques and different types of clay – Walker’s #10 commercial slip, Porcelain commercial slip, recycled clay slip and slip that you have formulated yourself.

We look at the things that can go wrong and how to avid or overcome them, cleaning up your slip cast work, handling greenware, bisque firing and glaze firing.

We explore simple ways to add colour to your work other than glazes or underglazes.

Slip Casting 102

In this advanced section of the Slip Casting course we will focus on changing your moulds, adding texture, altering your leather hard work, making additions and other ways of utilising the thixotropicity of the slip casting clay.

There will be lots of fun and failures in this course as we will not be playing it safe with out work. In that, however, is the chance to make something beyond amazing!
