Potters Wheel Master Class
June 3 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm$600
10 Week Potter’s Wheel Master Class
Starting Wednesday June 3rd 6 – 8 pm
From beginner to pro, and everything in between. No matter where you are in your throwing development this Master Class will accelerate and refine your throwing skills. Suitable for complete novices through to those who can already throw. You will be challenged at your level to learn and refine your motor skills, your clay knowledge, your process knowledge and your finishing skills at every class.
This class approaches learning to throw as an apprentice would learn. If you are prepared to go back to the very beginning and train new habits, even a seasoned thrower will improve their skill! For a novice thrower – learn once and learn well! You will be set up with skills you can cherish for life!
- Clay preparation
- Bowls and Cylinders
- Controlling shape
- Plates and larger bowls – throwing on a bat
- More clay – up to 800g
- Sets of bowls
- Set of cups
- Up to 1kg clay
- Lidded Containers
- Joining multi piece work
- Throwing to spec.
Well done! You have probably learned more in 10 weeks than many have done over years of pottery self development and other classes.
REMEMBER – throwing on a potter’s wheel is a master craft activity – it takes years of practice to master, so in this course you will learn skills, however, you MUST practice over the long term to develop those skills!
Course fees include all clay, glaze and firing, plus basic tools required for your work. You will also be lent a Firebird Studio’s Potters Wheel for use at home. A $200 cash bond is required – this will be returned to you when the wheel is returned at the end of the course.
You may also book Open Studio session (for free) so that you can glaze your work.
During COVID restrictions we have a class size of 6 people with plenty of space in the studio to practice social distancing. Please bring your own hand towel.
