Potters Wheel Beginners Workshop
May 10 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm$85
Sunday May 10th 10 am – 12 noon
Ever watched fascinated as potters make a spinning wheel and a lump of clay into a pot?
Here is your chance to try your hand at making a pot on the Potter’s Wheel.
Come and join our 2 hour throwing workshop (“throwing” is the technical term for making something out of clay on the wheel).
You will need an apron and a bath towel (not for bathing, but to put over your lap!) but everything else is provided. Not only that but we will finish off your masterpiece and glaze and fire it for you ready to take home around three weeks later!
What will you make?
Well, throwing on the potter’s wheel is a master craftsman type of activity, so as a beginner having a go at it for the first time, you might make a cup or bowl, it might be a bit wonky, but YOU will have made it!!! You will achieve a take home piece and will no doubt have a heap of fun getting muddy, and learning the basics of centering, opening and drawing up the sides!
This workshop is fully inclusive of materials, us trimming and glazing your work and two firings.
Please Note – in these uncertain times Firebird Studios will continue to operate our small classes of 6 or less people. There is plenty of room and we can easily practice social distancing. If you or a family member becomes ill, or you are required to self isolate, your booking will be transferred to another time and workshop of your choice. If we are ordered to close, your booking will be transferred to another time and workshop. Until such time, getting out and doing something creative in this crazy world is one of the best things you can do for your health! Take care and please continue to enjoy life to the best of your ability!
