Beginner Potter’s Wheel Workshop
Saturday October 9th 12 noon – 2 pm
Ever watched fascinated as potters make a spinning wheel and a lump of clay into a pot?
Here is your chance to try your hand at making a pot on the Potter’s Wheel.
Come and join our 2 hour throwing workshop (“throwing” is the technical term for making something out of clay on the wheel).
You will need an apron and a bath towel (not for bathing, but to put over your lap!) but everything else is provided. Not only that but we will finish off your masterpiece and glaze and fire it for you ready to take home around three weeks later!
What will you make?
Well, throwing on the potter’s wheel is a master craftsman type of activity, so as a beginner having a go at it for the first time, you might make a cup or bowl, it might be a bit wonky, but YOU will have made it!!! You will achieve a take home piece and will no doubt have a heap of fun getting muddy, and learning the basics of centering, opening and drawing up the sides!
These pots were all made by workshop students! You will try for some cup shapes and some bowl shapes. You should get at least one pot to keep, and at the end you can choose your favorite four pots!
Fully inclusive of all materials, two firings, and us glazing it for you. If you want to glaze your work yourself you will be given a card with instructions. Your work is ready for pick up between 3 and 4 weeks after the workshop.
Please bring your own towel!
