Beginners Pottery Wheel Workshop
Saturday 13th February 2 pm – 4 pm
Ever watched fascinated as potters make a spinning wheel and a lump of clay into a pot?
Here is your chance to try your hand at making a pot on the Potter’s Wheel.
Come and join our 2 hour throwing workshop (“throwing” is the technical term for making something out of clay on the wheel).
You will need an apron and a bath towel (not for bathing, but to put over your lap!) but everything else is provided. Not only that but we will finish off your masterpiece and glaze and fire it for you ready to take home around three weeks later!
What will you make?
Well, throwing on the potter’s wheel is a master craftsman type of activity, so as a beginner having a go at it for the first time, you might make a cup or bowl, it might be a bit wonky, but YOU will have made it!!! You will achieve a take home piece and will no doubt have a heap of fun getting muddy, and learning the basics of centering, opening and drawing up the sides!
These pots are all made by first timestudents in our Beginner Potters Wheel Workshops! We will trim (carve the outside of your work) and glaze for you, or you can come and glaze your work yourself!
Please bring your own towel! (An apron is handy but not required).
